I’m sure I’m in the minority here but I see claps and likes as “distraction” metrics. I ask for them only because it encourages others to click. By themselves, they offer little value.
I prefer to measure how many people opt in from a story and how many shares it gets on social media. Sharing requires a small, but important additional step. I track those numbers on my own.
I would rather have a story with 20 likes, 10 shares and 5 opt-ins than one with 100 likes, 0 shares and 0 opt-ins.
