Nice work. Leave out the “I” and just write remember when — as if you’re instructing the audience to recall the experience.

When I wrote “remember when flip phones were cool” it’s serves as a command to the reader or audience: think back to your experiences with flip phones in the early 2000's.

Your story would work if you communicated it to other programmers who understand the experience and the references
