Manipulation often brings with it a negative connotation, but its legitimate uses often go overlooked.
Here's what I mean.
If I were to manipulate a drug addict into getting treatment, would that not be a net-positive? Or, what if you tricked someone into leaving an abusive relationship? Few would argue the result doesn't justify the means.
Yet, a con artist can use the same methods to get unsuspecting folks to join a cult, part with their life savings, or at least hand over enough money to sign up for a monthly paid newsletter.
That's where I learned the time-tested manipulation tactics — working as a copywriter, selling newsletters, supplements, and self-help courses. Before that, I also worked in sales, so I gained a solid mix of techniques both in the written and spoken word.
Most folks think they're immune to manipulation tactics, but they're often the easiest to fool, mainly because even after you persuade them, they're too proud ever to admit they willingly surrendered to a lie.
The manipulation villains take many forms, sometimes bold and charismatic, occasionally out of sight, whispering into the ear of a useful idiot.
